Truck Accidents

Morristown Truck Accident Lawyer

There are many different kinds of truck; semi-trucks, big rigs, and 18 wheelers are among the more common trucks that occupy the streets of Tennessee. These vehicles can weigh up to 80,000 pounds when fully loaded and can stretch up to 75 feet in length. When compared to a small sedan, the truck appears to be a giant of a vehicle. Because of the relative size of a truck compared to a smaller vehicle, any accident that involves a fully-loaded semi-truck can be devastating if not deadly.

Types of Truck Accidents

There are four common kinds of truck accidents that take place throughout the country:

  • Truck rollover accidents
  • Jackknife accidents
  • Underride accidents
  • Collisions

A rollover accident can occur when the truck must stop rapidly, the trucker puts on their brakes and the cab of the truck stops. But, because there are no brakes on the trailer, the trailer can slide around the side of the cab. If this occurs and the wheels catch while the trailer is perpendicular to the cab, then the truck can "trip" and roll. A jackknife accident can begin this same way. When the trailer slides, if the wheels do not catch, it will continue around the side of the cab until it is facing the opposite direction of the cab and pins the cab in an unmovable position. This can cause very serious traffic jams as it is very difficult to free a truck from this position. Any smaller vehicles that are in the path of the sliding or rolling trailer can sustain very serious damage, and their drivers could incur some very serious injuries.

On the bottom of every trailer there is a guard bar that is designed to keep smaller cars from traveling beneath the trailer. An underride accident occurs when a car rear-ends a trailer, the guard bar fails and the smaller car travels beneath the trailer. The results of these accidents can often be catastrophic injuries if not wrongful death as the trailer will scrape the hood of the car off, all the way back past the driver's seat in most cases.

Our Commitment to Pursuing the Maximum Compensation

There are many different causes for these various truck accidents; the most common cause is general negligence. A tired trucker, drinking and driving, texting or talking on the phone while driving, and many other negligent acts can result in serious injuries and damage to other people and property. Client Testimonials

We work within our clients time frames, guidelines & unique budgets
A few years ago I was addicted to drugs. My addiction led me to steal and eventually I caught a few criminal charges. Troy Bowlin took my case. I spent time in jail for a little while as my bond was revoked. Troy immediately started working on getting me released and helping me through the release process. Troy was finally able to get me released to a 45-day rehab facility versus spending more time in jail. The rehab was a wonderful experience on my road to sobriety. Once I left rehab, the court appearances began. Troy was always present and on time. He would even be there early to discuss with me what would probably happen before court began. This was very comforting because when you are facing felony charges, court is very nerve-wracking. Troy was able to get me two years unsupervised probation. Based on the charges I had incurred this was short of a miracle. The two years gave me time to evaluate my life and become clean and sober. After the two years, Troy filed for judicial diversion. Once this was done, I have absolutely no charges on my record today. From where I started to where I ended up is all because of Troy's hard work. I find myself very lucky to have been blessed with this kind of caliber of lawyer. If it wasn't for Troy I would not be starting Nursing School in the fall. My future is bright now and my path is clear. If it was not for Troy I would not be as successful as I am now.
